Microsoft is expected to have a pretty low-key presence at this year's Mobile World Congress. In fact, the Redmond-based company is said to be releasing just one more Lumia phone and it'll arrive nearly a month ahead of the trade show.

Multiple sources tell Windows Central that Microsoft will reveal its next handset, the Lumia 650, on February 1. The device is expected to carry a 5-inch, 720p display that's powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 or 212 processor and 1GB of RAM.

With only 8GB of local storage (expandable via microSD card slot), an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter, the Lumia 650 certainly won't be for everyone. With any luck, the device will be priced accordingly - details we should learn come February 1.

As for the rumored Lumia 750 and 850, the publication believes these devices were cancelled in July of 2015. Since that time, they've seen no concrete evidence that would suggest either device has been reinstated for development. If both of those devices were in the works, it'd make sense to postpone the launch of the Lumia 650 for another month and unveil all three devices at Mobile World Congress.

The end of the Lumia era doesn't mean Microsoft is getting out of the handset business entirely. In its absence, Microsoft will focus on its flagship "Panos phone" which is expected to debut as part of the Surface line this fall.
