My newly built MCe 2005 with OEM rollup2 works brilliant execpt for the fact that since the rebuild something is not right as it has rebooted as few times with out warning. I was hoping if someone to be able to tell me from the dumps what it might be.

There is another issue that might be related or might not (ATi can't help)

This error occours when I open MCE and close it. I have asked and asked Ati and they don't seam to know the answer. Not sure if it is realated to the random crashs or not but thought I should include it as it is the only error I get in the event viewer.

All drivers are offical releases and the PC has minimum installed on it.

Any help would be soo gratefully receaved!

Thanks

3 minidumps crashed at avera800.sys and one minidumps crashed at ATI display card driver. I searched google for avera800.sys and no hit. What is avera800.sys? Your version is at 20th Sept 2005 which is almost the latest. Can you un-install avera800.sys?

avermedia and Ati

Thanks for the reply. The offending file is part of my TV card set up. I will contact Avermedia to see if they can tell me how to fix it! Thank you so much for providing me with the offending file. Iwill let you know if they have a fix for your records Justin

Still doing it but better

I contacted Avermedai who gave me MS signed DLL - which I thought would have solved the problem. ATI also released 5.10 drivers for my G/F card and I have installed these. The problem however is still there but much better.

I have only had 3 crashs since but I really need to know what the dump is telling me is wrong as the Event view doesn't say.

There have been 2 crashs that occour when I am running MYTV in MCE2005 and click to restore a saved virtual PC from within Virtual Server 2005. As I click restore the pc crashs. This could be related it it might not.

CAN anyone help me understand the contents of this mini dump?

PLEASE HELP ... Justin

Hi,

From your minidump, module avera800 is the same version and ATI display card is upgraded.

Have emailed Avermedia and hope to have a reply shortly! What package do you need to review this mini dump?

Thanks again!

Avermedia sent me an update but it failed to solve the issue.

I uninstalled the old driver yesterday evening and installed the new from the link below. I had to retune as I lost of channels then I rebooted. On reboot I started the virtual server 2005 and opened MCE2005. All was OK for about 5 minutes until I started to channel surf. I tried to jump to a new channel and the PC rebooted.

I repeated this with Virtual server 2005 NOT running and it had been fine since. There seams to be an issue as I said with running both.

I attached the mini dump file created from the last crash incase it is not the same issue but ... seam I can now receate the problem...

Hi,

Why does the vendor email the same device driver to you?

Oh no not again...

Hi,

Well It appears my problem has returned... I am really pulling out my hair on this one...

I have attached the last minidumps. Please can someone have a quick look and tell me what they think might be causing it...

Thanks in advance

Justin

The culprit maybe ZoneAlarm

Hi,

One minidump is crashed by ZoneAlarm. Uninstall ZoneAlarm may fix the problem.

Hi,

I have uninstalled Zone alarms and I wait to see the result! Many thanks for the quick reply, was there any signs of anything else crashing in the other dumps?

I will post a follow up after a week or so to see if it has fixed the issue

Thanks again

Justin
