Ok so I just finally got my computer to boot into windows after several days of it being completely screwed up. I think what i did was use a windows XP cd to repair it... even though my version of windows is xp pro, i dont know really how it worked but it got me into windows.
But now I have no taskbar at the bottom and no start menu
The windows button or ctrl-escape does not bring up a start menu either.
And also I cant get it to recognize my ethernet cable, or create any internet connections.
The only way I can navigate without my start menu is thorugh a windows explorer icon on my desktop annd thats about it.
And I dont have my windows xp pro cd with me, just my roommates windows xp cd.
So any ideas or \help would be appreciated, thanks.

You probably have some sort of mutant home-pro hybrid going on, your best bet is to back up your data and do a clean install of xp pro as soon as you can.

Yea i dont know, its xp pro, i just used xp home for the repair so that i can now get into windows. I just really wish the taskbar would be there, ive tried the system reapir off the windows xp home cd already and no luck with the taskbar. any more ideas will be appreciated
