Mobo and CPU Only beep

I connected my CPU to my mother board. There are no other components installed... MOBO: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe & AMD 3500+. When I powered it up it gave me a long beep. then it waits a bit and gives me another one. Is that normal? I'm assuming it is due to no RAM or any other drives being installed.

Sounds normal to me.

Install the Ram and HDD etc and see how it goes.
