i have a AMD Athlon 64-bit 3000+ cpu, just wondering what you guys thought would be the best motherboard. i was thinking an asus but then i heard MSI. nt sure

Do you have a socket 754 or a socket 939 processor?

For the Socket 754 I reccomend the ASUS K8N or the K8N Deluxe

I would definately stick to ASUS (personal opinion, mind you) because of their known stability and consistantly higher performing boards regardless of what processor you are using. I am recently built a machine with an AMD Athlon64 3500+ (939) on an ASUS A8V-Deluxe for my wife and have been very pleased with its performance. I must warn you about the MSI boards using the new nForce chipset, they are KNOWN to have stablility issues when used in conjunction with the nVidia 6800GT. Personally it seems like poor planning on the part of nVidia since they are the producers of the chipset on the MSI board. Nevertheless, one could also blame MSI for the stability issues of the board... With that said, the A8V-Deluxe isn't exactly the overclockers dream board, but if you are looking for a strong, stable board - ASUS is the place to look.

K8N Deluxe

The added features you get with the K8N Deluxe would definately make this the better choice. Price difference between the two being almost negligable, always go for the better board.

GL with your choice,

msI TECH SUPPORT AWFUL!!!!!!!!!! gO WITH DFI LAN PARTY. GREAT BOARD SUPPORTS BOTH NEW AND OLD CONFIGS. VERY STABLE AND GREAT OVERCLOCKING BIOS

DFI Lan Party would be the best overclocker. It ain't cheap. I think it's only 939.

If you want MSI, K8N Neo2 Platinum has 754 & 939 versions.

Lan Party Board Has My 3400 (754) Smoking. Best Board And Cpu Combo Ihave Ever Had. Blows Away Msi's Pt880neo With A 3.2ht P4. Payed 115 For The Dfi Lan Party Board.
