    Hi,

Just put together a new computer with the following specs:

    Gigabyte GA-K8BNS (new)
    AMD athlon 64 3000+ (new)
    Thermaltake Big Typhoon heatsink/fan (new)
    1 512MB DDR400 DIMM (new)
    1 512MB DDR333 DIMM (from old computer)
Nvidia AGP 4X video card (from old computer)
20GB WD Hard drive (from old computer)
    LG DVD-ROM (from old computer)
    Floppy (from old computer)
500W Ultra X-Connect power supply (new)

Having some problems with setting up, specifically
    1) HDD (plugged into IDE-1) and DVD-ROM (plugged into IDE-2) not detected
    2) takes a long time (2-3 min) after turning on for the computer to go through its checklist (like detecting RAM, peripherals, load drivers...). Even when I hit DEL to enter bios setup, it takes a few minutes to go into the menu.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Michael

I dont know alot about computers myself but you appear to have two different types of ram installed, and i dont think they work together. Try removing one stick.
