We need more information I'm afraid.

How do you know this? when does it happen? any recent changes? etc, etc. Only you can know what info to provide.

However, with what you've provied so far, I'm afraid the only definitive answer at this point is to unplug your modem.

56k modem, 7k you'd consider yourself lucky.. i'm on dailup with a 56k modem and only way i'd reach 5-6kb/s is to turn off every other service that uses teh net then leave the downlaod on and not touch the pc...

    Stop telling us fairytales.
First you claim your 56K downloads at 1 meg, then it D/Ls at 7kbs, now it doubles to 15kbs!
    Come off it.

With a 56k modem, the download speeds you are getting are actually very good.

There are a lot of reasons why your speeds would fluctuate. Download source, server etc etc.

I wouldn`t worry too much about it.
