moniter doesnt work after changing power adapter? help...

I just put a new power adapter onto the motherboard in my notebook. After I put everything back together as it should be.....the moniter will not work. The computer is getting power now because I can hear it start up and the lights come on. One of the fans cut on also. I tried hooking up to my desktop moniter and that also does not work......( I unplugged the notebook screen before doing so). Can anyone help me out with this? The notebook is an HP Pavilion zv5000 and it's about three years old. I must have shorted something out because everything is plugged in and in it's right place.....??????????
