Monitor Display Problems

My monitor display looks like it is in going to shut down mode. All graphics are very faint. I have tried a different monitor and get the same dim display. I have checked the video dispaly on the monitor unconnected to the CPU and it checks out ok. I have restored the computer to previous dates. I have checked the video card seating.

Current video card is 32MB NVIDIA GeForce2 MX (Dell) [Display adapter]
Dell M781s [Monitor]

Does anyone have any ideas what may be wrong?

Maybe you are overlooking something simple. Take a look at the pins on the monitor cable, and your video card. Make sure the holes aren't clogged on your video card, and the pins aren't bent on your monitor cable. That can cause dimness, or discoloration.
