Monitor fading out

I have a secondary monitor (Optiquest Q9) that is about 2 years old, it never gave me trouble until today. When I turn it on it comes on normally then fades to black after about 2 seconds (the power light stays on but the screen goes dark). The primary works fine. I switched them on the video card and sure enough it is the monitor itself. Any ideas?

Yes throw away the faulty monitor
There are no serviceable parts inside

I agree with kimsland. I believe your monitor has decided to quit. It is generally possible to repair it but I don't think that's too viable an option. You should be able to get a brand new piece for about the same price that you would repair the old one. Also, it'd be something relatively new on the market as opposed to something 2 years old.
