monitor goes blank and keyboard not working

When I work on windows XP,My monitor goes blank and CPU is working as normal.I can see my keyboard also stuck when this problems happens.Nothing happens when i press power or restart button on my CPU so I need to switch of the power and switch it on again.i tried booting with last known configuratoin and that coudnt fix the problem.My plan is to format and re-install XP but the problem will not be solved if its Hardware related.please guide me

With respect to your problem, it sounds like a faulty motherboard to me, or possibly power supply
