Monitor standby problem

Hi everyone, I've been having nothing but headaches with this problem.

I have a Samsung 275t and just recently I was having a strange problem where the monitor would not come out of standby. The light just blinks and I've done everything the manual says. Now, most of the time if not all of the time the monitor is stuck in standby mode.

I'm not sure if it's a video card problem or the monitor is playing up.

I tried hooking up a laptop to the monitor and it seemed to work fine.

I have another monitor but it's pretty old and can't run the resolution my computer is currently set at.

I'd love if you guys had any suggestions.

Thanks.

How about just turning off the monitor, instead of putting it in standby.

That has a good history as a reliable monitor... But the old ones do go bad more frequently than the new ones.. And whereas some monitors were gone and done in 18 months, the similar Samsungs has an average life of 36 to 40 months.
