Monitor wont stay on after startup

I have an Emachines HDmonitor model number LE1987 that came with the computer. I start up my computer and the monitor comes on and shows the boot screen, but only for a few seconds before going black. I turn the monitor off and back on, the screen shows my computer(at login screen now) but goes black after a few seconds again. I repeat the process but no luck the monitor wont stay on. The monitor is a little old (4 years)
I've tried hooking it up to 2 other computers thinking its my computer, but the same thing happens every time on all computers. By the way im using vga.

Any solutions? Bad monitor? Anything would help. If I have to get new monitor then thats fine.

Are you able to swap out your monitors Vga chord for another chord. To see if this maybe the problem. If you have already tried it it on two other computers with the same results. It may very well be on its way out.
