Motherboard/video card compatibility

This is my first time posting here..My problem is on my new build desktop..When i connect my video card and my monitor..my monitor displays "no input signal". I think my video card and my motherboard is not compatible..please help me..

My video card is Palit 9400gt 1024mb.
My motherboard is ASUS P5N SLI..

It should work but there are other reasons to cause no input signal that are not the fault of the graphics card. What are the rest of your component specifications?
