Mouse Not Working

  1. Hello!

Ever since a week ago, my mouse has randomly been disconnecting. The odd thing about this is the little red light under the mouse is still there when it disconnects.

Whenever I restart my computer, the mouse works for about an hour then randomly disconnects, then when I plug it out and back in, it works, until about another hour.

The computer isn't frozen when the mouse disconnects. It never froze before.

I have an Alienware Gaming Notebook 17. I've had it for about 2 years now.

    Please help!

If it isn't the mechanicals, then it could be drivers, so check Device Manager for errors.

Wired mouse - most likely it is issue with the wire, it wears out (especially with heavy use!!). Solution is usually to replace mouse.

Wireless mouse - battery (most likely), receiver, connection of receiver to motherboard.

USB connection - less likely, but can happen - try another port.

Or, if above doesn't work, might try cleaning the "little red light under the mouse" area. It could be dirty
