MP3 Portable Market to boom

    Things are looking good for MP3 player sales, both now and in the future. Market research company IDC predict that it will grow into a $58 billion industry by 2008. This amounts to something like 4 times bigger than the US record industry is at present.

    Presently, larger hard drive based players like the iPod lead the market, but lowered flash memory prices may help to promote portable flash players. 12.5 million flash players were sold in 2003 - this should jump to 50 million units in 2008.
