MSN Explorer locked

Hi Guys,
had the same error messages when trying to log on to msn all week, "update unsucsesful" then a "messenger needs to be repaired.......". Not working, IE 7 not working. Infact the only way to get online was to install Firefox from a PC Utilities disk.
I do get a brief flash of "MSN Explorer is being updated................" message.
Any ideas guys.

An exact error number would help if there is one.

Make sure your system is free of malware by completing this guide.

Try getting the updates by booting into Safe Mode with Networking.

Try reinstalling the applications.

Yes sorry m8, so used to getting little resolve on these issues i wasn't really expecting much.
The error messages i get are,:-80048820
& :-80048439

Iv'e tried reinstalling messenger, won't work tried All the virus malaware spybot malicieus removal rootbugs. all clear. The only way i can access the web is through mozilla.

Update on msn problem

Managed to download IE 8, installed and working,if somewhat slowly. Also managed to download Messenger live. Still the same problem with MSN Exlporer.
