My comp wont recognize my cd burner

  1. Just hooked everything up to my new comp and everything works fine accept my cd rom......... when i plug the master into it it will not open and my bios cant find it. Its a cdrom/burner i was wondering if i need a new one or what? im boogled

    this is what my system contains

    550w antec
    250 maxtor sata hd
    7800gt vid card
    amd 4200x2
    a8n5x motherboard
    x2 512 mem
    ASUS Black E-IDE/ATAPI CD Burner Model CRW-5232A4/CAB_BLK - OEM

    Set the jumper on the back of the drive to master and the second drive, if any, to slave. Alternately, you can set both to cable select. This assumes you have an 80 wire/40 pin cable. If you only have one device, set it to master.
