My Gateway Win-XP Media Edition 2005 Audio Some times

  1. Hi Everyone hope your ready for the Big Day just around the corner!!..

    I'm looking for suggestions as to where to start looking to try and solve my
    problem with "intermitten Audio". I have a Gateway with Win-XP Media Edition 2005. The report from dxdiag says the audio is a "Realtek AC97 Audio".AC'97 Audio Controller:
    Audio Controller Type VIA 8233/8235/8237
    Codec Name Avance Logic ALC655
    Codec ID 414C4760h
    S/PDIF Output Supported

    I have also tested the speakers and ran the Audio tests via dxdiag and all of the sound tests passed and I can hear the Audio.
    I have updated my DirectX to version 09.00.09.04 (DirectX 9.0c)

    Here is the problem: If someone sends me a "Youtube" vidio for example
    I can watch the video clip .............But cannot hear the audio.

    If I go to Military dot com and watch a "Shock and AWE" clip .video is ok ...no Audio!!.

    What Works::
    I can play my installed flight sim games and they work fine.
    Windows Media seems to play both Audio and Video.

    What would you folks suggest on how to Trouble shoot this problem.??
    Any questions as to Hardware or Software currently installed just let me know, I ran the EVEREST REPORT and can look up any info needed.

    Thank you for your comments

    Save your Christmas money and buy a PCI based sound card
