I've got several USB devices that I need to use the green USB remover arrow to safely remove. I recently installed AVG, and about that time the green remover arrow is gone. Don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. I'm running some of the devices thru a hub. Any ideas on how to get it back into the bar at the bottom? Is "Eject" an equivalent action? Thanks!
Rightclick the taskbar, select Properties, then UNtick the field on the bottom left, that says 'Hide unused icons'
Hello again. Seems you're always jumping in and helping me learn things! I'm vigorously trying, but always seem to be behind the curve. Wish I knew as much about these things as I do cars & hot rods! Actually, I'd look at that already, but that option isn't listed in there. (Remember, the 98SE) A month ago before I found this Forum I had trouble with some things I couldn't figure out so took it in for some help. Before that, I had quite a number of icons in the lower right Taskbar. The tech obviously did something because a number of those disappeared. I looked for that "Hide Unused Icons" thing but couldn't find it. HELP wasn't any help either. Seems like I'd seen it before, but of course can't remember where.
Nowadays one assumes that people have XP unless indicated otherwise. Did you install any new USB devices or drivers recently? Under W98 there is no such green arrow anyway, that's only for W2K and XP.
My apologies - I have had other financial priorities more pressing than keeping up with the latest and greatest in the PC world - what I had was perfectly acceptable for my needs until I ran up against doing home video. To reiterate, I did have the USB removal arrow for some time after I had taken the unit in to have some problems taken care of that I couldn't work out. Since then, I've only added a 2nd USB memory card reader.
