My PC intermittently Hangs

  1. My PC Recently crashed and has had a fresh install of Win98SE, Ever since it has been hanging every 2 or so hours, dont know what is up with the bloody thing, its a AMD K6-2 450Mhz ASUS P5A and 192MB SDRAM, please could you help me sort out this problem as i use the computer alot for surfing the net and doing homework, and i need it to be reliable.

    Check the temperature of your PC's CPU. Download the free Motherboard Monitor (MBM) from Alex van Kaam.

    Check the fan of your CPU if it is still going (it might need cleaning) and any other fans you have. Keep the PC open for a while to see if the problem persists. If not, your PC was/is overheating.

    PS: your CPU is approaching retirement age.
