My Pictures giving me fits

Hi. I'm new and don't really know all that much about the OS of any computer, but we are running XP with very little extra, and I'm having a real problem with my images in My Pictures. Every time I try to delete images that I no longer need, it puts multiple copies right back in, sometimes going up to 15 or more copies. I don't have any idea of what to do to correct the problem. If this keeps up, I'll have hundreds of images, most of which are copies. Help...PLEASE.

I have a good friend who built her own computer, twice, and she doesn't know what it is either. d

Open up the folder with your pictures in
Right click on the folder (any blank area) and change the view to list
Hopefully you will see all the duplicate pics, that were probably off the screen

click on the column title itself name NAME and the dups will be one under the other

Thank you. I'll try both ideas. I need to get rid of the images that I don't need, so that I don't overwhelm the system as I have before.
