Hi,

I built a media centre rig not so long ago .. and I bought a nice little NEC drive to put in it.

I stupidly thought that technology has moved on enough for drive manufacturers to actually make quiet drives and have no excuse to make loud ones.
when reading CDs its bearable but on certain DVDs its insanely loud!
I assume its because its reading the DVD at full speed.

anyway can any body suggest a quiet DVD rw +/- (RAM) drive that i could replace it with or even a way for controlling the speed that it reads dvds?

thanks in advance

oh yea.. also does anyoen know of a way to unlock dvd drives so taht they can play multi regions ? ive tried anydvd but i didnt get on with it as it wouldnt play the whole DVD without having to restart the program :(

thanks

All the blank media sounds like this?
Did you just get this drive to build the system?
If you just did return it back to the store. Just like with an AC unit that makes bearing noises you can return for a quiet one..
