Mysterious Low Volume!!

I have just installed a new Matsonic Motherboard on my computer, it has everything onboard.
Windows 98 picked up and installed everything, the wierd thing is the volume from my speakers in vey low!
I have checked all the settings in windows, taskbar, control panel etc, and reinstalled my sound card (using the MB CD) but still the volume is low, I tried putting headphones in aswell but still the sound is quiet??
Any suggestions as I find this very wierd!!

check the manufacturers web site to see if there are newer drivers available. I had a similar problem when I installed XP and had a SBLive card. even though windows detected it and installed drivers they werent worth spit. downloaded newer drivers and that solved the problem.
