Mystery No Text

  1. This affects Task Manager- all the tabs are present and the status bar is accurate but the tabs are pristine and empty. (I have Process Explorer which shows the same processes as taskbar- no unknown processes are running. And yes, I know about the double click trick).
This doesn't affect most programs, but Word and WordPerfect don't work either.
AVGFree works except for the icon version of the control center has not text
I don't seem to have any needed services disabled, or a known virus or worm.
    Its a mystery.
And I'm supposed to write a newsletter now with no word processor.

Check to see if somehow some of your .ttf's got deleted. When Windows can't find a text file it doesn't make any errors, Just doesn't show the text. Word on the other hand has alot more items that show and it might? Possible i guess. I think that task manager's tab font is tahoma or verdana. Easier: copy all the .ttf's out of a existing windows install and just copy paste. Hope i solved your problem

Thanks. Yes that was the problem. Anything that used the vgaoem font was blanking because I had tried to replace it about a month ago with a larger font I could read easier. Can't, I guess. One program even came up with an almost infinitely large window because there was no valid fontsize.
