Need basic info to run two HDs

My question may seem quite rudimentary to most folks here but I am a novice at computers so here it is:

I have to older kinda sluggish computers with nothing snazzy. I want to try and speed the newer, nicer one my adding the HD form the other to it. Should I run XP and all my other programs from the smaller HD and use the bigger for storage? Also, how do I go about re-formatting the one I'm adding? Any help is appreciated!

as for the arangement does you motherboard support RAID?? that would be the best option. otherwise 1 you need to reformat the secondary drive. to in stall first of all i am assumeing they are ide interface drives. the one you already have in there should have the jumper on the back of the drive set to master and the other one set to slave. actually it doesn't matter which 1 it it is, just one to the master and one slave. on the same channel. if you have an open cahnnel [1 cable with 2 open connectors. i ran across this it might help. post reply if you have more q.'s
