I am trying to reinstall XP to HP 514n desktop......
The cable for cdrom and hard drive are separate.
When I changed the boot sequence to cd rom in the bios setting and saved by pressing f10 and tried using the XP cd ............ but it does not boot from CD.
Then I changed the primary master to cd rom from AUTO...... Then it started booting from the cd and did the following steps:
1) install > f8 > install >D > C> Install> Format with NTFS(quick) > copying set up files> restart the computer
NOW I faced another difficulty,,,,,,, instead of using the copied files and start xp installation......... the computer is repeating the STEP 1 Again and Again.....
Moreover, I never see the LINE (PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD.........) which is normally seen if XP CD is in the cd rom......
I have also tried using the xp cd to other computers and they all boot with it.....
Please help.
