Hi There,

A few weeks ago I was infected with brastk.exe malware. It was awful! Thanks to this forum, I was able to get rid of it, I thought...

Recently, every time I reboot my computer, a white window pops up in the right-hand corner of my desktop and will not close no matter what I do. It has a red x in the corner but it is not interactive at all. It pops up every time, and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I've been ignoring it, but I can't see my entire desktop with it open.

I attached a highjack this log from today and a screen shot of how my desktop looks with the white window.

Please let me know if you have any solutions. Thanks so much.

Run Smitfraudfix
  • Download Smitfraudfix by S!ri from HERE
  • Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
  • Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
  • Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infected files.
  • You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
  • The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
  • A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin.

Afterwards attach rapport.txt

I ran the smitfraudfix and got the report, however, on the "host" section of the report there are a bunch of terrible websites or names of websites. This is a community computer and I am afraid that a lot of the website are pornographic that show on the hosts. I have attached the logs and am concerned about what to do next.

I ran the smitfraudfix twice and both times the same long list of the hosts came up. Am i doing something wrong to get rid of these? I want them gone!
