Need help with memory

ok maybe i made a mistake or im just dumb.... i bought 2 triple channel kits of corsair 6gb each = 12gb total

3 2gb sticks each

im looking at motherboards that have six slots like the asus ii rampage and one stick takes up two slots?? what!

did i buy too much or what motherboard can i fit these sticks on for core i7
