Need help with S/PDIF

Hello all. I have been considering buying 5.1 speakers for my PC (of which I already have a 5.1 DVD player hooked up 3 feet away from it) when a friend of mine mentioned using S/PDIF. I did a little research and found out that my built-in S/PDIF could support 5.1. So when I went to connect my computer to the DVD player, I came to discover that the S/PDIF connection on my player was an out , as was my PC's connection. Hmmmm.......Anyone have any ideas on how I could wire this together, let alone get my computer to use the S/PDIF as the audio connection?

need help with spidif

hi

i think you can solve your problem by getting a creative labs extigy sound blaster from ebay or some where like that.

you can plug in a spidif/coaxial lead as input in the back and connect the sound blaster to the pc via a usb lead making an external sound card and connecting dvd to pc

although a extigy sound blaster can be used as an external card as it has 3 line output front back center/sub

hope this helps
