I have this Pentium 4 2GHZ (I think its a northwood core but im not sure) 512 MB cache, 400 FSB.. I need advise on a motherboard for this chip, will any socket 478 board work?? the ones i looked at on newegg all said "pentium 4 Prescott/celereon (d)"... I just need to know if the older northwood cores will still work in any socket 478 board! Thanks for the help guys!

I think you will need one that supports a 400mhz FSB. Just because newegg does not list it does not mean it dosen't support it.
    Like this one,

At the Asus website it shows 800/533/400. I think it suports all 478 cpus.
It could work in any 478 mobo IF the BIOS supports it. You need to cheak the manufactures web sites for cpu support.

You will need another 512k of ram. I would get a fast hard drive as well. 10,000 rpm is about the speed you should be looking at.
