Need some zone alarm/avast help

I just got rid of norton yesterday and replaced it with avast and zone alarm. When i went to play Counter Strike it didn't work, same with medival total war 2 online. I'm preety sure i just have to add them to my allow programs list but i cant figure out how...plz help
