Right after booting up, opening My Computer' on the desktop or opening Windows Explorer brings about 'banging' on the floopy drive - I guess a search for a disk. Any ideas about what's going on and how to stop it? I'm using Windows 98 SE.

    Thanks.

Are you using NAV by any chance? Norton has a feature that scans floppy and it is set ON by default.
Could also be some other utility doing similar scan. Might want to check the settings of any system utilities running in the background for such a feature.
