Nero 6 "Error 6: Handle is invalid" upon installment

I got Nero 6.0 suite and installed it properly on my desktop. It was worknig fine. After a while and a bunch of burning, one day the software failed to recognize that my external dvd r/w drive was actually a r/w drive. It only saw the drive as read-only. I then uninstalled the software (Nero 6) through Add/Remove. Upon attempting to reinstall, I get the following error message: "An error occurred during the copy process. Error 6.T he handle is invalid. Please reboot your computor and retry." I have attempted the reboot and reinstall several times, have tunred the computer off and let it "rest" over night, etc. No improvements. I read on another board that I may have to clean out my desktop with a Nero cleaner, but can't find any such downloads. Can anyone provide assistance or recommendations? Thanks!
