  1. I am using nero 7, while copying a dvd movie, caching of image is fine, but the burn on to a double layer dvd fails even at a speed of 2.4x. Kinldy help.
The following is the log file. The end of the log file is only reproduced due to constraint of its size.

Most likely it is the media you are using. Try a different brand of DVD. I had the same problem with a new Lite-On DVD burner.

What kind of DVD movie is this? if it is a commercial DVD movie Nero will not burn it because of the copy protection. otherwise I agree with Fastco, it would most likely be a media compaitability issue with the media you are using. if that is the case my advice is to avoid memorex,or cheap generic house brands and get verbatim, taiyo yuden or maxell media.

Try Memorex or Maxell media to see what happens. We have that problem a lot with Nero when we use Sony or Imation CD's

I would go into device manager and go into the properties of the IDE Controller that the DVD-RW drive is on: it shouldn’t be PIO; it should be DMA if available.

Also include the Sony DRU-810A CDRW in your troubles search. We find very high failure and trouble rates in that model... the highest of any product Wal-Mart sells. Failure to copy is a common problem with it, particularly if it has more than 6 months use.

Having the same problem. HP DVD writer was working fine, then would not write DVDs, would however write CDs. Went out and bought new DVD writer and now it writes data to DVD but not movies. It starts out formatting the mpg or avi file to HD tmp then when it starts to burn, nero hangs up then stop then my whole XP Pro system becomes unstable.

Have tried everything I know of: Defrag, Registry Scrub, Nero Reinstall, Nero Repair, Nero Web Site, Google...
Help, at the end my rope with this. Does anyone have a solution or input?

I hate Sony burners... High priced crap if you ask me... Go Lite-On or NEC, lower price, great performance, compatibility and trouble free

Is your copy of XP updated to SP2 and current?

Using Nero, you can use any DVD burner you wish... buy you will need a Double layer to deal with double layer discs
