Network Card Not Installing

Hello this is my first time here,

I recently upgraded motherboard and case due to a computer failure...and extra money. Problem is i can't get my nic card to work in order to get the internet. I tried installing the card (and different cards) but windows doesn't see the card. I tried to install the drivers via ms-dos but could only access the the installation drivers from the A: driver (floppy), when it says its best to run it from the harddrive (which drivers are on the harddrive but i can't switch drive letters in order to get to them [and i have tried C:]).

So im wondering what am i doing wrong? I never had to install a ethernet card before, it just worked, how exactly do i get this thing working?

Does windows detect the network card when you put it in the computer? Maybe you need to install the chipset drivers for your motherboard to make the PCI bus visible to Windows.
