Network connection problems

Okay so my girlfriend got her laptop back from being fixed with a new screen and she decided to reset files so she could start fresh, ever since then we have not been able to connect it to the WiFi, it can pick up our WiFi name but when it connects it only stays on limited although earlier I did fully connect but only on one bar and soon after disconnected itself, we have tried resetting the router, but no luck and im it the best with the technical side of computers, it did state earlier that it may be limited as it can not attain an ip address, any suggestions for fixing or methods to how I can check that everything that should be working is working properly, many thanks

What version of windows do you use, what kind of laptop do you have, what kind of network card does it have, what kind of router do you have and who is your isp and what kind of connection do you have cable or dsl?
