  1. Hiya:wave:

was wondering if someone could help me out here.

i really need a Hdd, and i would like to connect it to my wireless system, plus be able to view files from another location.

i need to be able to view the files from another location, because my brother is in Uni at the moment, and he needs data back-up, so he needs to connect from another loc.

could anyone give me examples of some products please

    thanks for your help

simplest way is a ftp server client setup
    Google that
university's have pretty strict ip rules
you would be ftp server and he would be the client
if they are on the schools Ip that is
and if so remote network would not work at all
you may be able to do port forwarding I've never been behind school firewall so can't really help much

    watch that learning curve OOCH!!

He isnt accessing the files from the uni itself, but at his accommodation, so that really isnt an issue

i searched google, and it only came up with, your computer being a FTP sever.
i wouldnt mind doing that but there really would be alot more security for it to be safe in my mind.

so i really was wanting to do:
external hdd -> wireless router -> internet -> then remote access for my brother at his accommodation
