New HD,Problems!

Hi,
I installed a new HD as a secondary, it's been recognised by windows but its not showing up in my computer, no errors in the device manager but in the properties under volumes it says status: Not initialized.
Do i have to format the drive 1st? or am i just missing something??
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you need to format the drive from Disk Manager.(just right click on the disk icon..select format)
