New HDD Slow Tranfer

I recently brought a Samsung 160GB hdd with 8 mb cache and 7200rpm. I was to replace my old 1 which was causing my games to stutter/jerky/unsmooth gameplay and is now starting to become a major pain. When firefights and explosions go off, i imagine that the hard drive is not transfering the data fast enough to the cpu or the cpu is not transfering to the GPU which causes me unsmooth gameplay. anyone know a solution? this had happend to every game i try especially in call of duty united offensive where explosions are intensive.

My system:

XFX 7600GT
160 Samsung 160gb HDD
2gb RAM
3.4 GHz pentium 4 ht
windows XP

I recently found out tht setting the affinity of the cpu to cpu - or cpu 1 improves the performance and unsmoothness, but ther is still something else clogging up my system and making it stutter.

games are heavily dependant on graphics card ability, ram, and cpu power in that order. Hard discs have a small effect on performance, but not much.
