New internet pages won't open

I'm really sorry if this is in the wrong place guys.

When i double-click my internet icon on my desktop, in the start menu etc. it starts to open and then it closes like really really fast (like one second) and when it finally opens it is only as a thing at the bottom (like msn, my music is shown as icon next to start menu) i can then open it by clicking on restore. this is so frustrating, and i would really appriciate if someone could offer any advice. sometimes im sittin here like 5 minutes trying to get an internet page to opn

Which version of IE are you using? 6.0 or 7.0

I'm using 6.0.2900.2180. so i think thats version 6.0

While in IE, at the top of the screen, click on tools>internet options>advanced>restore defaults>apply>ok, then exit out. See if that helps.

Otherwise, if they give you the all clear and you're still stuck with the problem, reinstall IE.
-Control Panel >Add/Remove Programs >Add/Remove Windows Components
-uncheck box Internet Explorer.
-Next, Ok, Ok etc. Reboot PC
-Repeat above, checking the box this time.
