Just after I got Vista installed and running well I fried my mother board. (I'm still in mourning about this.) I couldn't get an exact replacement locally, so of course all drivers are different. Can I do a repair and save software installations just now working well, or must I do a clean install of Vista? Is Microsoft going to give me grief about registering Vista again?
Thanks in advance.

If you say it is working well just now, what is the problem?
Vista will not accept a new board so you can reinstall and re-activate. If MS ask, tell them that this is second activation because of a failed motherboard - no problem but you will have to use the phone to do it.

You may have to phone activate, I had to do that when I switched motherboards with an OEM copy of Vista. All they do is ask if it is currently installed on another computer, you answer "no" and they give you the information.
