New.net Spyware in Registry Won't Go Away

  1. Recently I downloaded some Windows XP Theme components from ThemeXP and accepted some kind of 'Browser Helper' (new.net) to "help support the site". My research shows that uninstalling the new.net software incorrectly can lead to disaster! There are numerous ways suggested to remove it, but following other people's progress with them, no one has had complete success and many have wound up unable to access the net at all after trying.
How do I get rid of this program, it's spyware and all of it's traces safely?

I have WindowsXP, MSN Premium with my Sympatico Regular Highspeed and use Freedom Zero Knowledge for Firewall, Anti-Spyware and Anti-Virus.
I delete the spyware, it tells me will be completely removed on restart, but it never is.
Apparently new.net gathers info I type on internet sites and that means address and c.c. too :suspiciou
Don't want to make a big mess with an untried method to remove it...
ANY ONE WHO'S ALREADY DONE IT SUCCESSFULLY? PLEASE HELP...
    THANK-YOU!
