Hi

I am looking at getting a new psu and hdd but after a heap of searching the internet to determine compatibility with my existing system, I'm still not 100% sure.

I'm thinking of an Antec ATX Smartpower 450W ver2 and a Maxtor250G 7200rpm 16M cache HDD.

My existing specs are...
DFI AD77 VIAKT400 (not Infinity model)
Award BIOS v6.00PG
AMD Athlon 2800+ (Barton core)
2x256M PC3200 HTL
1x512M PC3200 Kingmax SuperRam
nVidia Geforce 6600GT 128M AGP
Soundblaster Audigy2
WinXP Pro

Do you think the new psu/hdd would be suitable for this setup?
Thanks

Thanks for that. I think 450W will be enough for my system.
What about the hdd. I've heard mixed reports about Maxtor- mostly pretty good. Anyone had any experience with them?

Cheers

I had a Maxtor die on my recently. Click, click, click, boom. In general Maxtor drives are quite good for the dollar (as they are usually very cheap). If it is priced good, I wouldn't run away from one.

Little useless info -> Maxtor is now owned by Seagate.

You can also try Western Digital hdd's. They're pretty good, quick, and silent. I love the Caviars SE.

Or get a Seagate, they're cheap, and offer a 5 year guarantee :)

Ahh Maxtor, I own probbably six or eight of them and have never had one die on me while in use. not stating what might have happened once I nolonger used it. actually using five of them right now on two coputers in this house.
