Hi, I'm a Canadian snowbird hoping to get some computer problems solved before I take off again for sunny Mexico. Owned a variety of laptops for over 20 years now, but still make some rookie errors; one of which just forced me into having to buy a new one. If ever your computer shuts down by itself, don't restart it immediately! Make sure it isn't because of an overheating problem. My screen overheated because it was in the path of a stream of hot air and shut the system down into hibernation. Not knowing what was going on I woke it up, twice. Then it rebooted, unsuccessfully. Now I have to use an external monitor with it and can no longer boot Vista. After loading what looks like a full complement of drivers and before the welcome splash, it goes into hibernation similarly as when it overheated. Linux on usb/CD still boots fine and so does Hiren's bootCD. But I'd rather have my Vista back.
