Nintendo is relaunching its NES as a mini console with 30 pre-loaded games

Nostalgia factor aside, some of these games are just painful to play compared to modern day game-play design (the 'how' of playing games). The popular platformer Ghosts N Goblins was and still is a pita.

I'd prefer to spend my money on a classic controller (but wireless now) to play the entire NES library on an emulator. Save states for when you really have to put that game 'down', for whatever reason, without having to start from the beginning again is a must. And when you really just feel like playing through a game just to see how it ends there's usually a built in 'game genie' in the emulator. Win-Win. If Nintendo wanted to do it right they would help by legitimizing what the bootleg community has improved their product on.

I cant really seem to understand the logic. If you wanted something that emulates it 100% accurately, then get the real thing. I'm sure there's tons of SNES systems on eBay, and at your local used game stores. Also, saying "a 3 Ghz computer" is extremely vague.
The point is that I do not want an SNES (actually I already have one) I was just thinking in a curious manner, wondering how small they could make such systems, and how much power can they consume, etc. The point about the 3Ghz comment is that it takes a lot of power to emulate even such a simple game as Pong in a hardware identical state. Whether it's a Core2Duo or an i7, the point is that it's not even going to run at 15fps. That's the focus of that comment. Here's the article: http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2011/...-3ghz-quest-to-build-a-perfect-snes-emulator/

Old games tbh are not worth any monetary payment to use. Like already mentioned some games are fun to play for a bit but virtually all of them are very dated now. Emulation is coming on so much all of nintendos consoles have an emu in some shape or another and though not legal (even if you own the games they arent legal) they are though ... free!

My god Nintendo just does not want to make money. They could have just put these games on mobile and sold them for $5 each to EVERYONE.

This thing will not stay on shelves, it's an easy sell and a great idea in my opinion. Emulators on a phone are fine...But I will take a retro styled console and controller to hook up to a TV any day.

Nintendo already makes so much money, and has such a large stock pile of cash, that they don't need to worry about things like that. With exclusive IPs like all of Mario, Metroid, Star Fox, Smash Bros, and Pokémon, wildly successful handhelds, and wildly profitable consoles, they don't need to worry about their financials or company future for at least the next couple of decades.

Heck, they probably aren't making much on this thing at $60, but they are re-energizing a fan base for what is probably leading up to the announcement and launch of their next handhelds and consoles.

I think a snes console would make much much much more money, just for the rpgs alone.

You got a bit of a point there. Havent we all purchased one or two Final Fantasy games from an App store, even though we didnt need to? lol

Nope "we" haven't.

Than you are older than I, most likely. lmao

Edit: I think I mean younger! Or you are just not much of a gamer.

I haven't either. I like some games I never liked Final Fantasy in the FIRST place.
