Hi Have just started to get this message when the computer boots up, and my computer is not recognising on boot up that there is a dvd drive installed also, it only recognises the hard drive.

There is a cable connected between my hard drive, motherboard and dvd drive.

Im am also getting a lot of BSOD's.

This is annoying because the computer has been working perfectly earlier on in the week.

Has anybody any idea what could be causing this, and can anybody any idea how to rectify this.

PS

The cable is new bought on the internet, sealed in its on bag

Thanks

Geee....

The cable is defective...?
or
You damaged the cable installing it...?
or
The connectors are not fully seated in their devices...?
or
The cable is installed with the incorrect sequence of devices...?

Black= motherboard Blue=Hard drive (Master) Grey= DVD drive (slave)

I would suggest you use the secondary IDE controller for the optical drives (If the Mobo has one), but that is well past the scope of this reply.

Ummm....

Whoops, my bad. I looked in my case, saw a black plug in the mobo and sort of reflexed the answer. The IDE cable is a round one and the colors are on the tags. Not thinking, again sorry.
