No audio!

I was having some problems with my computer, so i formatted my computer and reinstalled XP. After installing, my audio has not been functioning. I get this error when opening winamp:
bad DirectSound driver. please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration. Error Code: 88780078

I've seen a couple users with the same error, but none of the information has helped me out. I've tried reinstalling XP again, which was unsuccessful. Please help

I'm having trouble finding what sound card I have. I've found it before, but I'm having a hard time getting to it. Help?

Get this program called Belarc Advisor from www.belarc.com. It tells you the profile of your pc.
