No boot sector on hard drive

With a new hard drive installed on my Dell Inspiron 15R N5030 and the recovery disk installed for Windows 7 with SP1 installed, I am unable to boot the computer to Windows. I am totally unsure of what to do to get this thing running.

You may have to install Windows fresh and not use the recovery disk at all unless the recovery disk has a factory fresh install feature

Windows/7 uses a different MBR structure.

Get to a command prompt using the Recovery tool and enter

• bootrec /fixmbr

if that doesn't do the trick then use

• bootrec /fixboot

Thanx for the help. I gave up and returned the hard drive and bought a new machine.
