No compatable direct3d devices found?

I installed Neverwinter Nights 2 on my computer, and clicked 'Play' for the first time, when this came up:

No compatable direct3d devices found
Program will now terminate

I have directx 9.0c.

Why does this happen?

Try updating your graphics card drivers, I had a similar problem once and all it needed was the new drivers, it is supposed to happen because the video card drivers (old ones) don't support direct3d.
